Walk On the Sidewalk

“Will there be someone passing by soon?”

Look! There is a mother cow and her calf passing by. Don’t walk in the street! It’s dangerous.

The mother cow stepped onto the sidewalk. But the calf was left behind in the street.

The calf climbing over the railing on to the sidewalk.

The mother helping the calf.

Made it!

Watch out for traffic!

One Year Old Kona

Kona was rescued when she was approximately three months old. There is no way to know exactly when she was born.

We think that an SPCA Vet estimated when she was born and filled in her profile card. Her birth date on it was May 25, 2008.

Today is Kona’s first birthday.

Right after Kona was born, we had a lot of heavy rain during the whole month of June. The total rainfall recorded at the Hong Kong Observatory broke the previous record set in 1889. It rained! rained! rained! rained! everyday!

How did Kona’s mother protect the puppies from the weather? How did she cope alone with the puppies during the wettest month ever? Where did she keep them out of the rain?

However, Kona survived. She reached her first birthday. Happy birthday, Kona!

We celebrated with cookies from Three Dog Bakery.

Kona shared them with Lupita.

“Happy birthday, Kona!”

“Thank you very much!”

Downpour on Sunday

The rain spoiled our much-awaited Sunday.

A picture of looking up at skylight.

“Sigh, it’s raining again.”

“I wanna go out!” Kona shook her head.

“Hey, calm down!” Lupita touched Kona on the shoulder.

The all-day-continuous-rain…

finally stopped after sunset.

“Shall we go for a walk!?!”

When we put the leashes on them, they were so excited Kona climbed over Lupita to get out.

The street was very quiet after the rain.

We were happy that the rain stopped.

Downpour on Saturday

The rain spoiled our much-awaited Saturday.

“I’m bored…”

“I feel dull.”

So, do you want to play with the rope?

“Hooray!”

“Yeah!”

“OK, I’m bored again!”

So, do you want to play with this toy?

“OK!”

“I also want to play! Give me a toy too!”

Baby Sis

“Hey, Lupita. You know something?”
“Nah, I’m sleeping now. Maybe later.”

Kona is such a baby, she sides up to Lupita when she wants attention.

“Oh, sis, pleeeease!”
