Sunday Drive

We went for a drive with Lupikona today.

Our destination was a beach!

While Lupita was playing frisbee with Scott…

Kona was playing in the sand.

That was fun!

While Tying His Shoes

“What are you doing, Scott?”
“I’m tying my shoes, Kona.”

“Where are you going in your shoes?”
“Are you taking us for a walk?”
“Yes, I am, Lupikona.”

“Great! I love you, Scott! Smooch!!”

Sleeping Leaves

Kona with Violet wood-sorrel.

Recently I found that the leaves…

close and go to sleep at night.

Good night, leaves. See you tomorrow.

What does the reflection of yourself in the glass taste like, Kona?

Chasing

This morning, I let Lupikona run freely to relieve the weekend’s stress.

Kona sprinted ahead and Lupita chased her.

“Kona, wait!”
“Catch me if you can, Lupita!”

Head-on view of Lupikona chasing each other. Hey, don’t run smack into me, Lupikona!

Catnap with Dog

Scott and I had to be out and do many things over the weekend and so Lupikona had to stay at home alone more than usual. Tomorrow I will make it up to them by taking them on a long walk.

While Scott was taking a catnap in between errands, Kona slept close to him.

Bum Pillow

One of the comments to yesterday’s blog was “Don’t they feel uncomfortable using their own thighs as pillows?” I think they are comfortable because I often see them relaxing that way.

In addition to using their thighs…

sometimes Kona pillows her head on her own bum!

Thigh Pillow

Why were Lupikona facing the other way?

They were enjoying some sun pillowing their heads on their own thighs.

Cautions for Kona

“Snap!”

Hey Kona! Lupita’s cheek is not edible. Do not eat.

“Lap!”

Hey Kona! Lupita’s eyes are not edible. Do not lick.

In the Sun, In the Shade

It’s very warm under the sun even in winter.

Lupita is enjoying sunbathing. Kona is all black from head to foot and becomes too hot when she sits in the sun for a long time. So she is lying in the shade.

Lupikona and the Pack - IV

It’s time for treats. No fighting, one by one.

Kona noticed the treats quickly and looked at them wistfully.

Lupikona got treats too. But Lupita was a bit concerned and didn’t eat it immediately. Kona ate it instantly and got another one. Lupita saw Kona enjoying the treats. By the time Lupita thought “Aha! Maybe I wanna try one too,” the treats were gone. I’m sorry, Lupita.

Thanks everyone for walking with Lupikona.

Lupikona and the Pack - III

One of the dog-walkers led some playful dogs and began to walk over to the spacious field.

Kona was not shy and followed them with gusto.

“Yay!” Kona was running in top gear.

Lupita kept watching Kona having a good time with the dogs.

“Although I want to go home soon, I will wait for Kona, because she seems to be having so much fun.”

Lupikona and the Pack - II

Lupita expressed no interest in the other dogs.

If Lupita doesn’t want to play with other dogs, I don’t need her to play with them. As long as she doesn’t bark at or attack other dogs, and sits submissively by me, that’s good enough.

Was I popular with the dogs? Dogs came to me one after another.

Another dog came to say hi to me.

Lupita also tends to tense up when she greets dogs.

“I want to go home soon…”

Lupikona and the Pack - I

Lupikona tend to be socially inept. Beginning last week, we started walking with the neighborhood kennel’s pack.

Lupikona walked with ten dogs today.

Kona tensed up with raised hackles but backed away.

“Who are you? Fledgling?”
“I’m Kona. Nice to meet you.” Kona was still nervous, but then...

“Let’s play!”
“Yeah!!”

“Yipee!” “Yipee!” “Yipee!” After Kona ran around with the other dogs…

she blended right in with the pack. Now then, what is Lupita doing?

In the Woods

It’s clear and sunny this morning.

I took Lupikona to the nearby woods.

“Hey Lupita, where are you going?” Kona wondered.

“Lupita! Don’t go too far. Come back!” I shouted.

“Here I come!”
