Going to the Vet

Our dog, Lupita, hasn’t been willing to go on walks lately. She also tends to stop and doesn’t move during her walk. I posted this topic on my blog the other day. One of my best friends saw the blog and she was very concerned about Lupita’s health. She suggested consulting a vet about Lupita.

So we took Lupita to the vet this morning.

When we got to the vet…

The receptionist was a cat!

"Doctor! Your patient, Lupita, is here," the cat said.

In the waiting room.

The doctor said Lupita may have a problem with her thyroid gland and did a blood test. We will get the results tomorrow. Don’t worry, Lupita. We will take care of you!

Dog-Friendly Starbucks

I went to a coffee shop with Lupikona.

This shop has hooks on the outside walls for dog leashes.

Under a Pet’s Refreshing Corner sign…

it provides a water bowl for dogs.

The customer next to us also brought his dog. The dog was well-mannered; lying under the chair.

We were in a dog-friendly Starbucks. We will go back there again.

Rejoining the Pack Walk

I took Lupikona back to walk with the dog pack from the kennel. There were 10 dogs walking together today. I haven’t done this since the summer began.

Although it has been 3 months since Lupikona had seen their doggie friends,

Kona managed to mingle with them without hesitation.

The dog facing Kona is a newly rescued dog. He was left behind by its owner. I hope he finds a good home soon.

Kona started playing with her old friends. She was running around happily.

“Hello friend!”

Lupita as usual demonstrated that she still doesn’t like playing with other dogs. However, she put on a brave face and smiled anyway. She had a nice walk and I felt that was good enough for her.

We are Home

We returned to Hong Kong. Lupikona are fine.

Lupita fell right to sleep when she got home. She slept both curled up and…

outstretched in a relaxed position.

We Miss You

We are still in Japan. What are Lupikona doing now?

Is Lupita waiting for us in the kennel like this?

When we arrive in Hong Kong tomorrow, we will go straight to the kennel from the airport to pick you up.

We can’t wait to see you, Lupikona…

Staying in the Kennel

Yesterday we went on a hastily-arranged trip to Japan. Lupikona had to stay in the kennel in Hong Kong.

They stay in a garden view room.

Since they have stayed here many times, they know the staff very well and felt relaxed in the room.

"Please come back soon."

It’s time to leave. When I drove away, I looked back at the kennel, and…

I saw Lupikona looking at me out the window.

At that moment I felt it was difficult to tear myself away from them.

Rainy Day

It has been raining all day.

Kona is willing to walk even in the rain. She was ready in her raincoat.

"I’ll stay home." Lupita doesn’t like getting wet.

Rainy Senna Surattensis. I enjoy walking, even in the rain.

At night, it finally stopped raining. Lupita was walking happily with Scott.

Weather Forecast

Yesterday, the weather report said it was going to rain in the afternoon. We popped over to the beach on our way home from our morning walk.

Run as fast as you can,

because we won’t be able to go out in the afternoon.

A magpie was on the beach with us. Chinese people believe Magpies are harbingers of good luck. It’s going to be a good day!

It rained heavily throughout the night as forecast. Lupikona had to skip their afternoon walk. It was good that they had a good run around in the morning.

Where is Scott?

When I say “Where is Scott?” to Lupita, she always goes to look for Scott.

While Scott was taking a shower, I asked Lupita where Scott was. She opened the sliding door using her nose, and headed to the shower room to find Scott.

This is a 36 sec short video clip of Lupita going to find Scott. Please check it out when you have time. (Click ▸ to watch)

Red-whiskered Bulbul

Lupita was resting in the shade of trees. We heard a lot of birds chirping in the trees.

Hey, look!

They have red vents. They must be Red-whiskered Bulbuls.

Kona’s (and my) Question

Lupita stopped midway up the steps.

"Hey, are we going back yet?"

"What? I want to go further up."

I thought Lupita was following me…

"I’ll stay here." She stopped to relax on her own.

Lupita turned around and sat down as if she was going on strike.

Again, she stopped and didn’t move. Was she pretending to be waiting for a bus?

"I want to walk without stopping…"

I can make Lupita walk again. But until she starts moving, Kona has to wait for her.

"WHY doesn’t Lupita walk?"

I want to ask the same question to Lupita too.

Scenic Views during Kona’s Walk

I walked Lupita and Kona separately in the late afternoon.

On the sidewalk by the ocean…

I saw this view with Kona.

Kona looked so happy.

This is the view from the other side of the road on the way back. I should get home soon to pick up Lupita.
