Kona’s Great Seat

On Saturday morning…

we went to the beach.

Kona started digging right next to Scott.

Kona was sitting in a great seat that she made herself.

You feel secure when you can feel Scott next to you, right, Kona?

Peeking Dog

Kona dug a hole.

It was big enough for her to fit comfortably inside.

"Hmm… I did a good job."

Kona had a dreamy look. It was a blissful moment for her.

"I feel good!"

"I feel great!"

She can’t contain her joy although she was just sitting in a sand hole.

At that time…

Lupita was peeking at Kona.

“Hello!”

Walking Practice

Even when Lupikona are off leash…

they practice walking behind me as if they were walking on leash.

Clop, clop, clop… they are focused on following me.

I kept walking and kept facing forward. All the while I could hear their breathing and footsteps at my back.

On the umpteenth backward glance…

I found Lupikona illuminated by the setting sun’s glow.

The sunset is getting earlier here in Hong Kong. Let’s head home before it gets dark, Lupikona.

Black-collared Starling

During our morning walk…

Look, Kona. Do you see a bird over there?

"What kind of bird is that?"

That is a Black-collared Starling.

It has a black collar around its neck.

If

If Lupita’s tail were all black…

she would look like this.

If the back of Kona’s tail were brown and the tip of it were white…

she would look like this.

Lupikona were taking a nap together. Zzz…

Spending the Afternoon Each in Their Own Way

Lupita was looking at the sea by herself in a contemplative mood.

At that time…

Kona found a crab’s hole and…

put her nose in it.

Sleeping Posture

I have been worried about every little thing Lupita does since the onset of her low thyroid condition.

When I entered the living room, this sight leaped out at me and made my heart skip a beat.

.....Lupita?

Oh no! Are you okay? Lupitaaaa!!!

"What?"

"I’m alive. I’m okay. I was just sleeping. Look, I can also sit up."

"I’m sorry to scare you, Yumi."

Starting Off the Day

A strong typhoon was expected to hit Hong Kong this weekend, but it changed direction, so it was a beautiful day today.

The sea was shimmering in the morning.

We walked in the morning sunshine.

Kona glancing at the camera.

Lupikona walked calmly and submissively.

We stopped at the beach on our way home.

Lupita looked in better shape.

She chased Kona with gusto.

We started off our day with a pleasant morning.

Pine Needles

We went to the country park.

Kona got many small green pine needles stuck to her face.

She still has a big smile on her face, though!

A Bald Spot

I found a small bald spot on Kona’s tail!

What’s happened? I have been sensitive to the dogs’ potential hormone abnormality since the onset of Lupita's low thyroid condition. Is there any chance that Kona has a hormone disorder, and it caused the bald spot? I was so worried.

We took Kona to the vet without any hesitation.

Kona in the waiting room.

"Is my turn yet?"

It was diagnosed as a skin infection from an undetermined cause. Maybe she got an insect bite that got infected? Or maybe she scraped her tail playing in the woods and the wound got infected. Tablets and a bottle of lotion were prescribed. I was relieved that it’s not a symptom of other illnesses.

"Kiss and make it better." Lupita touched her nose on Kona’s tail.

Mr. Look-alike

"I’m Lupita."

"I’m Chester."

Chester is a rescued dog who needs a loving home.

His face is just like Lupita’s but they have slightly different colored coats.

Kona and Chester are…

very playful. So Chester looks like Lupita with Kona’s personality: a great combination! I hope he finds a good home soon.

If you want to know more about Chester, please send a message by using the mailing form at the bottom of the column on the right side of this page.

Chester has found a new home. Thank you very much. (Nov 04, 2010)
