Slightly Better?

Although Kona still has pain in her eye, she eats well and walks happily.

Scott walked Lupikona in the quiet woods.

Kona wears a sad face at home because she is in pain. But once she goes out, she looks happy.

Does excitement make her forget about pain? She put a smile back on her face. I hope her eye is on the mend.

Get Better Soon

Thank you all for your concern about Kona’s eye and for sending Kona your get-well messages. I appreciate it.

Unfortunately it didn’t get any better so I took her back to the vet. We are trying out a different type of eye drops.

However, I’m still worried as she is still suffering.

I hope she feels better soon.

I went to help to walk the rescued dogs.

Sam is a rescued dog who joined last month.

Although she lost her left hind leg after being hit by a car…

she enjoys her walk very much using three legs. Every time I walk Sam, she gives me a lot of courage.

Sam needs a loving home. If you want to know more about Sam, please send a message by using the form at the bottom of the column on the right side of this page.

Closed Buds

I went to the Cherry Blossom Garden with Lupikona to see if they had bloomed.

But the buds were still closed. It seems it takes some time to come into bloom.

However, I saw several precocious blossoms.

The cherry trees here are from Taiwan.

Let’s come back here again when they are in full bloom, Lupikona.

Kona’s Eyes

It looked like something was bothering Kona’s eye. I took her to the vet.

Kona was looking at the dog sitting at the corner in the waiting room.

It’s actually a ceramic dog.

Kona has a minor corneal abrasion in her eye.

It’s time to put drops into her eyes.

"Oh, it stings!"

Hope her eyes get better soon.

"Hey girls, I want to take a picture. Come here!"

"Ok, stay there."

"Raise your heads and..."

Snap! Very good, girls!

Peach Blossom

I’m making a correction to yesterday’s blog post.

The flower I thought was cherry blossom was actually a peach blossom.

"Oh dear!?"

"Oh my!?"

They may not look like it, but Lupikona are girls. Maybe I’ll celebrate Japanese Girl’s Day (March 3) known as the Peach Festival with Lupikona.

Thanks to one of my readers, Obahan in Kyoto, for letting me know the correct flower’s name. I appreciate it!

Sakura Blooming

During the walk, I stumbled on cherry blossoms blooming.

When I see cherry blossoms, I miss Japan.

It’s not yet in full bloom and still has many buds.

Sometime soon I’ll go to the Cherry Blossom Garden I visited last year.

Dog’s Loo Situation in Hong Kong

Sorry about the toilet topic again.

We have public toilets for dogs here in Hong Kong.

This one is filled with potting soil, but ordinary ones are filled with sand like a sandbox.

These bins especially for dog waste are placed throughout the city.

It’s so convenient and useful!

Staring at the Sea

One of the things Kona doesn’t do but Lupita does is…

to stare at…

the sea...

with her melancholy but gentle eyes.

Kona has a boyfriend.

His name is Wong Ka Fei.

They clung to each other… is this a doggie hug?

The two dogs were bumping each other playfully and running together.

Cave Exploration

Lupikona expedition. Chief Explorer Lupita and her squad member Kona.

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Lupita often doesn’t feel like going for a walk. Kona is always good at persuading her to make a move.

Kona was trying to get Lupita in the mood for a walk.

Then Kona grabbed Lupita’s lead into her mouth to tell her, “Let’s go, Lupita!”

Kona has been a Lupita-walker since she was a puppy. I chuckled.

Sweet Sleep

after we got home, they fell into a deep sleep.

Did you two also sleep clinging to each other while we were away?
