Tokyo Marathon 2012

The Tokyo Marathon started at 9:10 a.m. Japan time this morning.

This is a photo taken by Scott passing the start line.

At the same time I was watching the live broadcast on my PC in Hong Kong using a slingbox.

"Hey Lupita, Scott is somewhere in there."

"Oh? Where?"

Scott had an epic struggle after 30K, however, he made it to the finish line in one piece. Thank you very much to all those who supported him.

Well done, Scott! Please have a good rest.

Scott is going to run Tokyo Marathon tomorrow.

I’m supporting him in Hong Kong...

Sore Eye

Lupita looked like her left eye was in pain, so I took her to the animal hospital. There was no scratch the surface of the eye and it will cure with the use of eye drops after a week. What a relief!

I hope she feels better soon.

Wet Days

Recently we have had rain off and on every day. It rained today too.

Kona enjoyed her walk in the rain. Lupita stayed at home since she doesn’t like getting wet.

It was Drizzle, and Rain Later

In the dog park yesterday.

After the drizzle turned to rain...

Kona was still playing.

They are the dogs that didn’t mind getting wet.

While Lupita and I were taking shelter under a big tree, Kona kept socializing in the rain.

Uh-oh! You gotta shampoo, Kona.

Orange Trumpet Vine

The hedge has taken on an orange hue.

Now is the best time to view Orange Trumpet Vines in Hong Kong.

It has orange trumpet-shaped flowers. It’s also known as Flame Vine (Kaenkazura in Japanese) for its appearance.

While we were walking in the drizzly rain, the flowers lightened my mood.

Sniff Sniff, Dig Here

Lupita: “Sniff sniff. Smells like something is buried here.”
Kona: “Really? Let me dig it up.”

Sniff sniff sniff sniff sniff sniff sniff sniff sniff.

Chin-rest

The fence in our terrace is chin-height for Lupita.

Lupita was resting her chin on it...

and waiting for Scott to come home.

Looking Both Directions

Lupita looked one way...

then the other...

and then...

looked at me and grinned!

Feeling of Speed

I tried to take panning shot of Lupita running using a compact camera. I was trying to take some photos of Lupikona that convey a sense of motion and speed?

Too bad Lupita didn’t fit in the frame and only her hind toe was in focus.

Taking frontal shots did not successfully convey her speed.

This is a photo of Lupita I took from the side.

Can you feel Kona’s pulse of life?

Drizzly Day on the Beach

We went to the beach in the drizzle.

The mists caused a whiteout over the water.

Even though the weather was depressing...

once I came down to the beach with Lupikona...

it made me feel better.

Kona’s Valentine

It’s Valentine’s Day today.

Kona went to see Lok-Lok at his house.

"Hello, Kona."
"I love you, Lok-Lok."

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Growing Boars

Lupita was staring off across the clearing. Something was over there.

Oh, there were wild boars.

They must be the young boars we saw last time here. They have grown up since we saw them last.

Morning on the Beach

I awoke in the morning and went to the beach with Lupikona.

There were already many dogs' paw-prints on the sand. Seems like all of the other dogs are early risers.

When I was sitting and enjoying the sea, Kona came to me after running around.

So did Lupita.

It was a peaceful moment. I had a feeling that we were going to have a good day.

Socializing Practice

Lupikona have grown up without developing good social skills. Sometimes Kona gets rowdy. Lupita has trouble associating with other dogs and people.

I took them to the dog park to practice socializing today.

At first they tensed up.

This beautiful Afghan hound relaxed and kept smiling when Kona and…

Lupita sniffed her bottom. Such a good dog!

Kona and a Borzoi started…

chasing each other.

Although Lupita didn’t play with other dogs, she said hi to different dogs.

After Kona felt comfortable with other dogs…

she joined the large doggies’ gossip session.

Well, today’s last socializing practice for Kona was…

to receive a kiss from a woman Kona had just met!
