Trailing Abutilon

We are back to boiling hot Tokyo.

Lupikona were resting in the shade.

Lupita cooled herself by lying on a rock.

On our way home, we saw bell-shaped little red flowers.

This is a Trailing abutilon. Even in hot weather, enjoying flowers that we happen upon is still one of the pleasures of dog walking.

Path that Leads to the Beach

It’s Monday. We are still staying in our beach house.

In the afternoon, we walked along this path leading to the beach.

We saw Tiger lily and...

Montbretia on the path.

We walked on a sandy trail covered with Cutleaf evening-primrose.

And after we climbed the little hill, there was a...

desert?

No, no, it’s an extensive beach.

See, now the ocean has come into view.

We had a long walk on the long beach.

Lupita rested at the water’s edge.

Kona did the same at a place that was secure from waves.

The sky was glimmering red. Okay, it’s time to go back to Tokyo.

Beach - Day 2

This morning I finally...

went surfing.

Lupita saw me off worryingly.

When I was back from the water...

Lupikona warmly greeted me.

Look, Scott is coming back too.

We had a good beach morning.

Walking with Friends

We went walking with local doggie friends.

One, two , three, four…there were a total of twelve dogs walking together.

Walking in a pack is...

fun!

Black dogs walking together.

It’s time for a break.

One, two, three, four… everybody’s here.

Clockwise from top left, Maple, Rex, Chobi, Terry, Lupin, Chihua-ko, Lon-ko, Bain, Ifu, Lupikona and Peko in the middle.

Our final destination today was...

a dog friendly café bar.

After a while, Scott returned from work and joined us which made Lupikona happy.

The walk was fun, the beer tasted good, and we had another good day!

Two Peas

Out of the dogs I have seen, the one that looks most like Kona is...

May.

Kona and May resemble one another not only physically, but emotionally—they both scare easily.

The white dog, Barron, and the black dog, May, live just down the street.

Which dog is Kona?

Hot Morning

Our morning walk.

It was already very hot at 8 a.m.

We had a water break under the pergola.

Being from Hong Kong, Lupikona and I are accustomed to the hot weather. However, it feels really hot!

A Plantain Lily we saw on our walk. I should walk the dogs before it gets hot tomorrow morning.

One More Frightening Thing

Fireworks are banned in Hong Kong. Lupikona had never heard fireworks there.

However, playing with toy fireworks is a signature Japanese summer event.

On our dusk walk...

when Lupikona heard fireworks, they were horribly frightened.

Somehow Kona wasn’t frightened today. Is it because she was too absorbed enjoying herself and didn’t hear the fireworks?

I hope that Lupikona will be able to get over their fear of fireworks just like they learned to cope with trains.

Monday

Scott and I had things to do over the weekend and Lupikona had to stay home by themselves most of their weekend.

Thank God, it’s Monday! I walked Lupikona longer without much concern for time.

Clop, clop, clop.

Lotus flowers bloomed in a pond at the nearby park.

Red ones and...

white ones.

Water striders made wakes on the surface of the water.
