Gingko Trees

We walked down a Gingko tree lined street to the station.

Golden leaves were dazzling.

We started the day with a pleasant walk. Have a good day, everyone!

Welcome Home

Tonight was the night Scott came back from the US.

Lupikona expected Scott to arrive at any moment.

Finally the door opened.

"Welcome home, Scott!"

Scott and Lupita danced a jig of joy.

"Lupikona, I’m home. Have you been good girls?"

Autumn Walk

We walked along paths over red fallen leaves and...

yellow fallen leaves. Autumn... it’s a beautiful but melancholy season.

Flower Walks

These are the flowers I saw on my walks with Lupikona this month.

Marvel of Peru season is coming to an end.

Lantana. It’s so colorful.

Those little white flowers on the river bank are...

Buckwheat flower.

The Round Leaf Holly has red berries.

Toad Lily.

I found the Japanese Quince started blooming this morning. They still have many buds. Now I have something to look forward to when I pass by in the coming weeks.

Thanksgiving 2012

I went to my parents’ home to see them with Lupikona.

Today is Thanksgiving Day in the US. It’s one of the most important holidays for Americans and family members gather for a warm family reunion. It’s a less familiar event for Japanese. However, we Japanese feel the same about being thankful for health, family, friends and food. I was thankful for being able to enjoy a meal with my parents today.

Lupikona send Happy Thanksgiving wishes from Tokyo to Scott’s family and Scott who is now in the US to spend this day with his family.

Happy Turkey Day!

Morning

Look! Mt. Fuji appeared again.

The air was crisp and the morning sun was warm. Sitting by the river I couldn’t help thinking how lucky I was to be able to spend a peaceful morning with Lupikona.

Visiting My Parents

I took Lupikona to my parents’ home yesterday.

My mother welcomed Kona with a gentle stroke.

My father and Lupikona; the three of them shook hands!

I took Lupikona for an evening walk in my parents’ neighborhood.

We were in the middle of the big city of Tokyo. It’s different than our usual walking path, isn’t it?

After our dinner at home, we enjoyed each other’s company, including Lupikona.

I’m happy that we had a good time at home. Let’s visit them again sometime very soon, Lupikona.

Getting Closer

On Monday in Shonan, after playing on the beach, we went to a dog café.

Lupikona each sat down on a café mat. KAI was sitting at the back.

After awhile...

Lupikona were sharing one café mat. On the other mat...

was KAI.

The three dogs, Lupita , Kona and KAI, were sharing two café mats.

Sarah and Nazuna didn’t move, didn’t make noise and were sitting quietly all the time. They were very well-behaved.

It was the first time for Luke to go to a café. Inexhaustible as he was, Luke lay down at his owner’s feet in the end.

Kona and KAI were sitting with their bottoms close together. The good time spent together on the beach lessened the distance between the dogs.

The dogs played until they got tired and the dog owner’s kept laughing even after we got tired. We had really a happy day.

Smiles and Wags to Remember

I’m still basking in the afterglow of our Shonan trip. The thing I remembered most was everyone’s smile.

Nazuna’s beaming smile.

Luke’s fresh smile.

Sarah’s sweet smile enjoying the ocean.

Lupita’s happy smile.

KAI--playing with Kona--wore a lovely smile too.

And...

the dog owners’ smiles. You can tell how we laughed and smiled that day.

Something Good Happened on the Rocks

On the beach in Shonan on Monday:

Let’s climb up the rocks!

They overlooked the ocean.

I wondered how KAI felt when he saw this view for the first time.

When we looked down from the top... Oh? Sarah was afraid to climb up the rocks and stayed down there by herself.

After awhile...

Nazuna and KAI pitied Sarah and went down to her. Then, Nazuna climbed up leaping from rock to rock to show her the way up. Then, you know what Sarah did? She followed KAI and started climbing up the rocks. Good job, doggies!

Sarah’s owner clapped her hands in her joy.

However, maybe because we cheered a bit too loud, Sarah turned back and walked down the hill again.

Lupita watched their every move. I don’t know if she thought that it was her turn to help Sarah…

Lupikona went down the hill to pick up Sarah. And then...

Wow! Sarah followed Lupikona and climbed up to the top of the rocks. I can tell she was frightened because her tail was between her legs. How brave she is! Well done, Sarah!

But how did the dogs make Sarah make a move? There are many interesting things in a dog’s world.

Well, here is Luke’s owner sitting on the rocks. She was so exhausted after dealing with restless Luke. It was a good place for a rest and to enjoy the beautiful sky and the blue ocean.
