A Rice Field

There is a small rice paddy in the nearby park.

Kona is afraid of the scarecrows.

The ear of rice is still green. I look forward to seeing them turn gold in autumn.

Sunflower

We went to a sunflower farm in Setagaya.

Approximately 20,000 sunflowers have bloomed.

A sunflower smile.

A Lupita smile.

The sunflower smile is infectious.

This is What I’ve Been Waiting For

Lupita stepped in a puddle from the rain last night.

It’s sunny but it’s very nice and cool.

How brisk this morning is! This is what I have been waiting for the entire summer.

Sniff, sniff…

Sniff, sniff, sniff…

We are having a BBQ tonight.

Object Association…

When I walk by here…

I associate the rock with something I want to eat. What is that?

An Eclair.

The Moon

On our walk yesterday.

Yesterday’s forecast said it was going to rain, but it didn’t. We saw a beautiful moon. It is full tonight.

Getting Our Wish

We love the town we live in. It’s dog-friendly and comfortable. But we have noticed that there is one thing missing. We were wishing we could have it here. And finally…

our wish is coming true. Yay!

Charcoal Grill

Let’s have steaks.

Let's BBQ them in our yard.

They are nicely done.

That cold beer is…

just the thing to have on a hot summer night!

Blistering Heat

Sunbathing is one of Lupita’s favorite activities. However, this summer is inordinately-hot, so…

“It’s hot.”

“It’s way too hot.”

“I can’t take it anymore.”

“Let’s beat a hasty retreat.”

Red Shiso Juice

I made red shiso juice and Japanese plum wine in June.

The hot summer has come. It’s time to open the red shiso juice to drink.

Red shiso is rich in vitamins and minerals. It helps overcome summer lethargy. Also its luteolin has anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory effects. It’s a perfect summer drink for me since I’m experiencing dermatitis.

I Made it Happen

I managed to get up at 5 o’clock. I thought I would be able to walk the dogs in the cool morning air, but…

it was already hot like a sauna even it was only 5ish.

We walked to the big field.

The glow of sunrise. Morning dew glazed the grass.

We are having an abnormally hot summer in Japan. I hope you are not suffering too much from the heat and keeping well.

Up Early

I got up before 6 a.m. to walk the dogs. Even that early, after walking few blocks, I started sweating. It’s supposed to be hotter tomorrow. I think I should wake up earlier. I’m not sure if I can make it happen though.

Flower Walk

This purple flower is…

Duranta Repens.

It reminded us of our old neighborhood in Hong Kong.

The flower that makes me feel refreshed during a hot summer walk is…

the light-blue-flowered…

Cape Leadwort.
